We’re unhappy to report that Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Angie Stone was killed in an auto accident Saturday morning (March 1) on the age of 63.
Her daughter, Diamond, confirmed the information on social media, merely saying “My Mommy is gone.”
The singer’s rep, Deborah R. Champagne, confirmed to TMZ that the singer was killed on her means dwelling from a present in Montgomery, Alabama.
Born Angela Laverne Brown on December 18, 1961, in Columbia, SC, Stone rose to fame as a member of the feminine hip-hop trio The Sequence. Signed to Sugar Hill Data, the group had a reasonable hit with “Funk You Up.”
Within the early Nineties, Stone grew to become the lead singer of the R&B trio Vertical Maintain, scoring an R&B hit with the monitor “Appears You’re A lot Too Busy.”
After signing a solo cope with Arista, her debut solo album, Black Diamond, was launched in 1999. The lead single, “No Extra Rain (In This Cloud),” went to #1 on the Billboard Grownup R&B Chart.
Stone would go on to launch 10 studio albums throughout her profession. Notable hits embrace “I Want I Didn’t Miss You,” “Brotha,” and “I Wanna Thank Ya.” Stone’s music earned her two Soul Prepare Woman of Soul Awards and three Grammy nominations.
Stone additionally branched out into appearing, with roles in “The Scorching Chick,” “The Preventing Temptations,” and “Experience Alongside.”
Stone is survived by daughter Diamond, son Michael, and two grandchildren.
