Questlove Unveils SNL Music Documentary | Information


Put together to relive among the most memorable musical performances to ever happen on “Saturday Night time Stay” with a brand new documentary, “Girls & Gents… 50 Years of SNL Music,” from Academy Award-winning director Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson

Co-directed with Emmy winner and SNL section director Oz Rodriguez, this three-hour particular will function a mix of sketches, performances, and interviews with over 50 artists who’ve graced the SNL stage. 

Quest expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming challenge in a press release, noting that revisiting SNL’s intensive archival footage was akin to a “time-travel expertise.”

“Everybody is aware of probably the most well-known ‘SNL’ appearances, whether or not it’s Elvis Costello, Prince, or the Beastie Boys, however they’re the tip of an enormous iceberg,” he added. 

“Girls & Gents…50 Years of SNL Music” is scheduled to premiere on NBC on January 27, 2025, at 8 p.m. and streaming on Peacock the next day. 

The latest challenge provides to the musician’s spectacular repertoire in filmmaking. His directorial debut, “Summer season of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Might Not Be Televised),” spotlighted the 1969 Harlem Cultural Pageant. The hassle earned the musician his first Oscar for Finest Documentary Function, in addition to a Grammy Award for Finest Music Movie.
