When Coffy’s police officer good friend Carter (William Elliott) is assaulted for refusing bribe cash to look the opposite approach, she units out on one other murderous and extremely harmful revenge quest.
What Works Effectively: This fast-paced, hard-hitting, and unblinking blaxploitation flick combines violence, intercourse, and a powerful feminist streak (plus the bonus of an epic cat combat) with an uncompromising anti-drug message. With cops and politicians becoming a member of gangsters in exploiting addicts, not one of the important characters are remotely healthful, permitting author and director Jack Hill the liberty to deploy deceit, manipulation, and betrayal in pursuit of greed and revenge. Pam Grier is superb in the midst of the action-packed carnage, her interpretation of Coffy offering the one clear-eyed condemnation of blacks promoting out their very own group.
What Does Not Work As Effectively: The sleaze from the sordid underbelly of this corrupt world drips off the display.
Key Quote:
Howard: You are upset, you possibly can see that do not you?
Coffy: I can see lots! I can see how each time a child rips off a automotive or an equipment retailer to get a repair, you get your lower.
