What Works Nicely: This unusually clever rom-com abandons frivolous cliches and as an alternative bravely delves into the crass transactional economics of relationships. Matchmaker Lucy is tired of chemistry and love, simply the stats of wealth, schooling, upbringing, and bodily attributes. Ticking the suitable materialistic containers on each side of the ledger means a match is made, cash is paid, and purchasers are glad. Harry represents what she believes she craves and Harry is what she left behind, and whereas each will check her values, her difficult-to-match consumer Sophie (Zoë Winters) is about to severely disrupt the success formulation.
What Does Not Work As Nicely: The working time wanted a trim. Director Celine Track’s script is usually sharp, however succumbs to repetitiveness with the flabby pacing. Some logic lapses emerge inside Lucy’s mathematical world, the knowledge that solely a rich man will fulfill her crumbling rapidly into contradictions as soon as Harry begins his pursuit.
Key Quote:
John: Why does anyone even get married?
Lucy: As a result of individuals inform them they need to, and since they’re lonely, and since they’re hopeful.
