Hip-hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa, who has been accused of sexual abuse by a number of folks for years, misplaced a civil lawsuit filed towards him.
In response to Rolling Stone, the Bronx-bred legend was sued by a John Doe in a New York State Supreme Courtroom case that accused Bambaataa of kid molestation and intercourse trafficking.
Earlier this week, after Bambaataaa didn’t seem in courtroom, Choose Alexander M. Tisch entered a default judgment.
The go well with, filed in 2021, claims the Planet Rock artist sexually abused John Doe a number of instances, ranging from when he was 12 years previous, from 1991 till 1995. Bambaattaa was 33 or 34 on the time.
Bambaataa by no means responded to the lawsuit. Over time, he has denied comparable accusations from greater than 10 males who claimed he engaged in unlawful intercourse acts with them once they had been boys.
In 2016, Bambaataa denied “any and allegations” of molestation to Rolling Stone.
“I, Afrika Bambaataa, wish to take this chance on the recommendation of my authorized counsel to personally deny any and all allegations of any sort of sexual molestation of anybody. These allegations are baseless and are a cowardly try and tarnish my fame and legacy in hip-hop right now.”
Two of the accusers have been very vocal, Hassan Campbell and Ronald Savage (Bee Stinger), though Savage, a former music business govt, reportedly recanted in 2024.
Nonetheless, activist Leila Wills, co-founder of the advocacy group Hip-Hop Stands With Survivors, filed an FCC criticism towards Sizzling 97 after DJ Funkmaster Flex introduced Bambaataa to the radio station as a visitor on his present. Flex confirmed that Savage took again his accusations.
Wills advised Rolling Stone that Sizzling 97 was reckless for permitting Bambaataa airtime.
