First Assistant U.S. Lawyer Tara M. Lyons has been appointed Performing U.S. Lawyer for the Southern District of Georgia (SDGA), making her the primary Black lady to serve within the position because the district’s chief federal regulation enforcement officer.
The Evans, Georgia resident formally commenced the position as of Jan. 18, persevering with a 20-year profession with the U.S. Division of Justice, which acknowledged her as the primary Black lady to carry a “high regulation enforcement job” within the the Southern District of Georgia. In April 2023, she started service because the First Assistant U.S. Lawyer and was acknowledged in January 2024 with the 70th Lawyer Common’s Award for Distinguished Service.
